Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is one of the projects I worked on during my internship at Aleph. EPF is a federal statutory body under the purview of the Ministry of Finance in Malaysia. I joined this project in the middle of Sprint #6 and worked on it till Sprint #8. I worked on some of the user flows that were already defined by the stakeholders of EPF, with my teammates in Aleph-labs.

The Product

It manages the compulsory savings plan and retirement planning for private sector workers in Malaysia. Membership of the EPF is mandatory for Malaysian citizens employed in the private sector, and voluntary for non-Malaysian citizens.

The Goal

To redesign the current KWSP website and design a mobile application with the new and revised functionalities and requirements.

My Responsibilities

  • Attending the daily stand-ups and design sync ups.

  • Working on the user flows assigned to me.

  • Updating the new designs with the new design system requirements.

Team Members

Danial Haikal, Aliff Hazim, Ravi Nagalingam, Faras A’tras Adanan, Farisha Mohd, Muhammad Faizul Azmi Bin Turiman and Meghla Mehnaz Rose (me)

Design Stuff

Process

I was assigned to work on the sentiment survey. At first, my goal was to understand the business needs and goals and the user needs and goals. After the sync-ups with the stakeholders of EPF, the user stories were clarified. Lastly, my teammate and I started working on the prototype. This was later tested during the user testing by the UX Researcher assigned to the project.

Next, we worked on the desktop version together

I also worked on the Shariah cancellation reason user flow. The same process was followed for this user flow as well. Few screens are given below:

Learnings

Takeaways

EPF is a very important project for the all Malaysians and the fact that almost everyone once the product goes live is very special to me.

I got to learn a lot in the little time I got to work on this very big design project, from how to build a design system to how align with the development team to make sure the designs truly translate during engineering as well.
